Production has halted on the NBC Studios laffer, and the net has no plans to run the four unaired segs it has in the can. Move had been anticipated following weak Nielsen numbers for the show's second episode Tuesday (Daily Variety, Sept. 30.)
Peacock Entertainment prexy Garth Ancier called series star Mike O'Malley "a very talented individual" and said NBC wished him "and everyone associated with the show the best."
O'Malley tried to put the best face on his show's quick canning.
"The passion that the cast and crew of my show put forth on my behalf will forever inspire me. I am grateful for the experience NBC gave me and heartbroken by their decision to cancel it," he said in a statement issued by his publicist. "Then again, I always wanted to be No. 1, and now I can say I am: No. 1 to be canceled!"
