Allen will host USC honor

AMPAS fetes 70th anni of Cinema-TV school

Tim Allen will host the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences' salute to the 70th anniversary of USC's School of Cinema-Television on Sept. 30.

Also set to participate are George Lucas, Richard Edlund, Brian Grazer, David Wolper, Randal Kleiser, Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski -- all alumni of the University of Southern California -- as well as Fox 2000 prexy Laura Ziskin and Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman-CEO Bill Mechanic.

The evening, at the Acad's Samuel Goldwyn Theater, will screen clips from 15 past student shorts, including Lucas's "Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB," Robert Zemeckis' "A Field of Honor" and shorts by Kevin Reynolds, Gary Rydstrom and Rick Famuyiwa.
