Finnell plucked for Peacock sr. VP post

Exec to o'see daytime nonfiction

NBC has tapped "Today" senior producer Linda Finnell for the new post of senior veepee of nonfiction daytime programming.

Finnell's main responsibility will be to develop talk, magazine, gameshows and other non-suds programming for the Peacock's daytime lineup, which currently consists of three serials and one NBC News-produced talker ("Later Today"). She'll report directly to NBC Entertainment prexy Garth Ancier, who's expected to announce the appointment today.

Currently based in Gotham, Finnell will relocate to Burbank in January. She'll remain with "Today" through the end of the year.

Susan Lee remains senior veepee of daytime for NBC, overseeing the web's sudsers.

Finnell has been senior producer on "Today" since 1996. She had been coordinating producer for the weekend edition of "Today" from 1993-95.

Prior to joining NBC News, Finnell spent nearly a decade in the talkshow arena, with stints on "The Faith Daniels Show," "Montel Williams" and "Sally Jessy Raphael."
