McConaughey eyes 'Red' for Paramount

De Line to produce '70s cop pic

Matthew McConaughey is in advanced talks to star in and produce with Donald De Line the pic "Red, White, Black and Blue" for Paramount Pictures.

The original script, penned by Andrew Kevin Walker ("Seven"), will be produced by De Line's Paramount-based De Line Pictures along and McConaughey's j.k. living prods. Oliver Stone and Dan Halsted are attached to exec produce.

Pic is set on the bicentennial date of July 4, 1976. Three L.A. vice cops wage a war against a local drug czar and try to uncover a large shipment of narcotics.

Once McConaughey's deal closes, the producers will further develop the script and hope to interest a director and co-stars for a spring 2000 start date.

McConaughey is being repped on the deal by AMG and Propaganda Management's Beth Holden, along with attorney Kevin Morris.
