TNT's 'Nitro' adds cartoon seg

'Chowdaheads' fetes 3 wrestlemaniacs

TNT's "Monday Night Nitro" WCW wrestling franchise is about to get even more animated.

Cabler is adding a regular animated seg to "Nitro" which will be produced by former "Wonder Years" star Jason Hervey and Mandalay Sports Action Entertainment. The interstitial toons, dubbed "Chowdaheads," will revolve around three teen wrestlemaniacs.

WCW stars are expected to make voice cameos on the skein, with "Chowdaheads" creators Eli Roth and Noah Belson supplying most of the regular voices.

Hervey described "Chowdaheads" as "wrestling's version of 'South Park' meets 'The Simpsons.' "

There's a chance "Chowdaheads" could be turned into a regular skein, perhaps for TNT, if the interstitials catch on.

First seg bows Monday on "Nitro."
