Almodovar garners Fipresci top prive

'Mother' named best film by int'l crix association

MADRID -- Pedro Almodovar's "All About My Mother" has won the first Fipresci Grand Prize for the best film released from July 1, 1998 to June 30, 1999.

Some 160 members of the Fipresci international film critics federation voted for the award, which will be presented Sept. 17 at the 47th San Sebastian Intl. Film Festival.

Runners up for the prize were Luc and Jean-Pierre Dardenne's "Rosetta," Dane Saren Kragh-Jacobsen's "Mifune" and Tom Twker's "Run, Lola, Run."
