New Line, Witcher ink deal
'Love Jones' helmer to head football pic
Under the pact, Witcher, who wrote and directed New Line's "Love Jones," will set up "If I Don't Six," a drama about a football player's freshman year at a Big 10 college. The script was written by Elwood Reid from his own novel. "Six" will be produced by Brad Jenkel.
In addition, Witcher is developing "Libra," a love story set in a community of musicians in New York. Witcher will direct the film and produce it along with Nick Wechsler of Industry Entertainment.
"We have wanted to get back in business with Ted since working together on 'Love Jones,' " said Michael De Luca, production chief at New Line.
Jay Stern, New Line's senior veep of production, will oversee the Witcher pact. Spencer Baumgarten at 3 Arts Entertainment and Nina Shaw of Del, Shaw, Blye, Moonzes negotiated on his behalf.
