TV honorees slated by Women in Film

'Sex' cast, producers receive nods

The cast of HBO's "Sex and the City," actress Camryn Manheim and producers Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin will be among the recipients of Women in Film's Lucy Award for Innovation in Television on Sept. 17.

Emcees for the event at the Beverly Hilton will be actresses Annie Potts and Lorraine Toussaint.

The Emmy-nominated "Sex" focuses on the complex relationships of four New York women, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall and Cynthia Nixon.

Manheim, who plays Ellenor Frutt on ABC's "The Practice," has "single-handedly changed the image of full-bodied women in Hollywood," a WIF statement said. Manheim recently released a biography titled "Wake Up, I'm Fat," which she originated as a one-woman show in New York.

Four-time Emmy winner Lear and six-time Emmy winner Yorkin have between them been responsible for "All in the Family," "The Jeffersons," "Maude," "Good Times" and "Sanford & Son." Their film credits include "Divorce American Style," "Blade Runner," "For the Boys," "The Princess Bride," "Arthur 2: On the Rocks" and "Fried Green Tomatoes."

The WIF Founder's Award will go to five-time Emmy-nominated actress Patricia Barry, whose career has included more than 2,000 TV and film appearances.
