Her vacancy is expected to be filled by music publishing vet Tom Sturges, who has nabbed a creative director gig.
In the newly created ATV/Sony post, Coleman will be responsible for getting the publisher's tunes placed in films, TV and commercials.
"Kathy's relationships and business links throughout the film and television community have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues," said Jody Graham Dunitz, exec veep of Sony/ATV Music Publishing. "And her knowledge of music is immense."
Dunitz said Coleman's "passion for matching music to film and TV productions is unequaled."
Industry vet Coleman, who will be based at Sony Music's Santa Monica HQ, spent eight years at MCA Music Publishing, rising to film/TV veep.
