Players will get 'Bangin'

Glover tuner set to make Off B'Way preem

NEW YORK -- The Players Theatre will be home to Savion Glover's newest project, "Keep Bangin', " set to premiere Off Broadway on Aug. 24.

Percussive tuner is being produced by Keep Bangin' Entertainment, Maniactin Prods. and Romeo Joven.

Helmer Glover most recently directed and performed in "Savion Glover/Downtown: Live Communication" at the Variety Arts. He won a Tony in 1996 for his choreography of "Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk," adding to a collection of awards that includes two Obies, a Drama Desk Award and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

"Bangin' " creator Jared Crawford will join fellow Bucket Drummers (of "Noise/Funk" fame) in the ensemble set to bang on a range of unconventional instruments -- cowbells, buckets, and pots and pans among them.

Show also will feature Raymond Alexander King ("Noise/Funk"), Larry Wright ("Noise/Funk") and Darrell Dove Jr. ("Dance Umbrella").
