Maigret to develop for Centropolis

Exec to head business department

Former DreamWorks sales exec Philippe Maigret will join Centropolis Entertainment as head of business development.

Maigret will be responsible for the strategic development of the company's motion picture, TV, special effects, music and Internet businesses.

'Stargate' link

Prior to becoming part of Centropolis, Maigret was a sales exec at DreamWorks international TV arm, and was responsible for the pay and free TV distribution of their filmed entertainment in Europe, Australia, the Middle East and Africa.

He also served as senior vice president of Studio Canal Plus (U.S.), where he arranged for foreign sales-backed bank financing for "Stargate" and was exec in charge of production on "Murder in the First."

'Key member'

Centropolis partners are Roland Emmerich, Dean Devlin and Ute Emmerich. Bill Fay is the president.

"He was a key member of the team that put 'Stargate' together, so to have him join Centropolis Entertainment is particularly exciting," Devlin said.
