Stonesifer to Eye board
Gates Learning Foundation prexy brings digital expertise
As chief of the Seattle-based Learning Foundation (the 1997 brain-child of Bill and Melinda Gates), Stonesifer has worked to bridge the gap between technology haves and have-nots. Most recent Learning Foundation projects include presenting $25 million to the Intl. AIDS Vaccine Initiative and $50 million to the Program for Appropriate Technology in Health.
In Stonesifer's expanded role as a CBS board member, she will share her digital expertise, strengthening the Eye's ties to emerging technologies.
"As the computer and the Internet take ever more dynamic roles in the home, we will continue to grow our role in the new media that delivers content to our many audiences," said CBS prexy and CEO Mel Karmazin. "We look forward to the new dimension Patty's thinking will bring."
Prior to joining the Gates Learning Foundation, Stonesifer was a Microsoft senior VP.
