Luketic to walk a 'Mile'

Working Title giving Aussie helmer feature debut

Aussie writer-director Robert Luketic has signed to direct the comedy "The Mile High Club" for Working Title Films and Universal Pictures.

Working Title's Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin are producing the under-$15 million film, which will be distributed worldwide by Universal.

Based on a screenplay by Rebecca Hughes, "Mile High" follows the exploits of a male security guard who is recruited for an unlikely undercover assignment: To break up a secret prostitution ring running on a major airline.

Working Title is casting the film now, aiming for a mid-fall production start. Emily Cook is overseeing the project for Working Title.

"Mile High" will mark the feature debut of Luketic, who previously helmed the musical comedy short "Titsiana Booberini," which he is developing into a full-length feature at Miramax Films.

Luketic was represented by UTA and the Gold/Miller Co.
