Mag is Academy's fourth most generous benefactor

Premiere magazine has given $50,000 to the Academy Foundation for the Margaret Herrick Library and the Academy Film Archive, part of a total of $500,000 that the publication has pledged to the organization.

The latest installment brings to $350,000 the magazine's contribution to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences so far.

Premiere publisher Steven P. Aaron presented the $50,000 check to Ric Robertson, exec administrator of the Academy, who is in charge of the foundation's activities. The gift makes Premiere the Academy's fourth most-generous benefactor, trailing only the $1 million gifts received from Bob Hope and from the Cecil B. DeMille Foundation and a gift of $528,000 from the Samuel Goldwyn Foundation.

"The Academy's library and its film archive are at the forefront of efforts to preserve the history of motion pictures, and Premiere is delighted to be a part of those efforts," Aaron said.

The Margaret Herrick Library and the Academy Film Archive are housed in the Center for Motion Picture Study, the converted Beverly Hills Waterworks building on La Cienega Boulevard in Beverly Hills.
