Hard cel for ani events

ASIFA accepting noms for Annies

The Hollywood chapter of the International Animated Film Society is now accepting noms for its 27th annual Annie Awards.

ASIFA-Hollywood has greenlit animated entries in film, television, home video and interactive productions. Top honors will go out in over 20 different categories at the Annies Nov. 6 at Glendale's Alex Theater.

Deadline to submit is July 30. Entries should be sent to 725 Victory Blvd., Burbank, CA 91502.

On deck this weekend at Glendale's Westfield Shoppingtown is ASIFA-Hollywood's Anima '99, a free event offering seminars headlined by animation industry heavies.

High-profile teachers include members of the "The Simpsons" ani team and reps from Nickelodeon's "Angry Beavers." Voice-over artists Lucille Bliss, June Foray and Margaret Kerry-Wilcox are also on board to perform during the fest.

Signed animated posters and cels will also be up for grabs during a silent auction.

ASIFA, founded by a group of professional French animators in 1957, is the acronym for the Association Internationale du Film D'Animation.
