Spears nets Mouse spec

Teen wonder, ex-New Kid McIntyre ink for TV concert

PASADENA -- Teen pop sensation Britney Spears and former New Kid on the Block Joey McIntyre have signed with the Disney Channel to headline their first television special.

"Britney Spears and Joey McIntyre in Concert" will tape at Walt Disney World in front of the new Disney/MGM Studios attraction Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in August and premiere on the cabler Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

The special will also feature a behind-the-scenes tour of Walt Disney World with the teen heartthrobs and interviews with the duo.

Spears, whose singing career began as a Mouseketeer on Disney Channel's "Mickey Mouse Club," will perform songs from her multiplatinum debut album, "... Baby One More Time."

McIntyre, who performed with the New Kids on the Block until 1994, will perform songs from his solo album, "Stay the Same."
