Brailsford to top Promax

Exec named prexy, CEO, replaces ankled Chabin

Glynn Brailsford has been tapped prexy and CEO of international TV marketing and promotion association Promax-BDA.

The appointment caps a five-month-long search to replace Jim Chabin, who ankled the post in February to become prexy of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

However, Promax chair Mary Powers is confident in Brailsford's abilities as successor. He has "significantly contributed to the success of Promax over the last 10 years as both a former Promax U.K. chair and member of the international board. ... He has vast promotional and marketing experience not only in broadcast television but in cable and satellite as well."

First up on Brailsford's plate is prepping for the Promax Australia, Latin America and U.K. confabs landing in Sydney, Miami and London, respectively, this fall.

Most recently, Brailsford operated his own U.K.-based marketing consulting firm, promosapiens. Additionally, Brailsford spent three years as a creative services controller for London's Channel 5. While there, he racked up over 20 national and international marketing and promotional campaign awards.

Prior to Channel 5, Brailsford was veep of on-air marketing at Discovery Channel Europe. And from 1995-96, he headed on-air marketing at Nickelodeon U.K.

Brailsford broke into promotions at Yorkshire Television, where he launched three drama series: "The Darling Buds of May," "Hearbeat" and "A Touch of Frost."
