UPN tunes hip-hop

The Source Music Awards go primetime Aug. 20

Primetime TV will be grooving when UPN broadcasts the Source Hip-Hop Music Awards on Aug. 20.

Featuring performances by Sean "Puffy" Combs, Master P, DMX, Ruff Ryders, Juvenile and Nas, the network special marks hip-hop's long-awaited jump into primetime.

UPN has received nearly double its average network primetime advertising rates for the show. It's the first Source Awards to be aired on network TV since their inception in 1995.

The Awards are produced by Tall Pony Prods. and Source Entertainment. Executive producers are David Mays, Anthony Eaton and Michael Elliot.

Show will be taped at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles.
