Winfrey preps mag launch

Harpo-Hearst publication to bow March-April 2000

Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Entertainment Group and Hearst Magazines have pacted to launch a new mag set to capitalize on Winfrey's large audience reach.

Content of the still-untitled magazine will include relationship advice, work information, health updates and fashion trends.

"This new magazine will reflect (Winfrey's) business and personal life principles, and will be another media outlet for the 33 million viewers who watch her each week," said Hearst Magazines prexy Cathleen Black.

Winfrey added, "I love the printed word and have always appreciated the unique connection between author and reader ... this magazine provides a different way for people to be informed and inspired."

The mag's bow is slated for March-April 2000 at 850,000 copies.
