Hollywood.com plans CD sales

BigE sets sites on Sept. to start selling sounds

Big Entertainment said June 29 that it will begin selling music through its Hollywood.com information and e-tailing Web site.

BigE will offer 250,000 CD titles beginning in September, marking its first expansion beyond the movie content that has been the staple of Hollywood.com.

The company will also provide online information about current and upcoming music events in major cities.

The company said music sales will be handled by a third-party distributor.

"Our research indicates that Hollywood.com users are major consumers of recorded music," said Mitchell Rubenstein, chairman/CEO of BigE. "We will be working with a distributor who will inventory the CDs so that BigE and Hollywood.com will have no significant capital outlay while creating a new revenue stream as a result of this expansion."

Recently, BigE also announced plans to acquire Pkbaseline.com, an online film and television database.
