Taking a cue from local newscasts and some syndie mags, Tuesday's edition of the Peacock newser will allow viewers to use the Internet to express their opinions, in real time, about the story they're watching.
The hourlong seg, a collaboration with Court TV, will focus on a manslaughter case involving an apparently picture-perfect romance gone bad. As the story unfolds, viewers will be prompted to log on to the "Dateline" Web site and vote on whether they believe the death involved was a case of manslaughter or suicide. Votes will be tallied continuously, with results updated and displayed onscreen every 15 seconds for both the East and West coast feeds of the mag.
If the experiment proves popular, "Dateline" execs may make the interactive feature a regular part of segs based on Court TV collaborations.
