Miramax takes flight on 'Top'

Tyro scribe's stewardess tale nabs $450K against $600K

Miramax is taking off with Eric Wald's "View From the Top," having purchased the tyro screenwriter's spec script for $450,000 guaranteed against $600,000.

Described as "Election" set in the world of airline stewardesses, "View" tells the comic tale of a twentysomething woman with a white trash past who sees her flight attendant job as her chance to get into the glamorous life.

Brillstein-Grey chairman Brad Grey and motion picture head Matthew Baer are attached to produce. The deal comes just days after Miramax announced a first-look agreement for all theatrical pic projects produced by B-G's film company.

The deal was negotiated by Miramax's co-prexy of production Meryl Poster, exec veep Charles Layton and senior VP of business affairs Michael Luisi.

Wald is repped by CAA's Scott Greenberg, Rowena Arguelles and Tory Metzger; his lawyer is Ken Richman.
