John O. Jarstad

John O. Jarstad, a former sports announcer and journalist, died June 12 of heart failure and diabetes in Bremerton, Wash. He was 78.

During the 1940s, Jarstad was sports editor of the Bremerton Sun and the radio voice of the Bremerton Bluejackets, a minor-league baseball team.

He later broadcast baseball on TV for the Seattle Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League and hosted a show on Seattle's KOMO-TV for 13 years in the 1950s and '60s.

Jarstad is survived by his wife, Barbara, his son, three daughters, a brother and two sisters.
