Hollywood Festival to fete Caan

Thesp to receive achievement in acting nod

James Caan will be given the Hollywood Film Festival's achievement in acting award on Aug. 9.

Caan has worked in more than 50 feature films, and his credits include his Academy Award-nominated perf as Sonny Corleone in "The Godfather" and his Emmy-nominated work in the telepic "Brian's Song." Other films include "Misery," "For the Boys," "The Rain People," "Honeymoon in Vegas," "Eraser" and "This Is My Father."

"Mr. Caan is one of Hollywood's most accomplished actors," said fest founder and exec director Carlos de Abreu. "His distinguished career entertaining audiences for more than 35 years is something all performers should strive for."

Caan will pick up his award at the Beverly Hilton, during the culminating ceremony of the five-day fest.

The Hollywood Film Festival kicks off Aug. 4 at Paramount Studios.
