Ungerman eyes UPN post

Exec holds similar post at NBC

NEW YORK -- NBC exec Nicole Ungerman is close to inking a deal with UPN to serve as senior veep of business affairs for the weblet, replacing the departed Layne Britton.

Ungerman has been VP of business affairs for NBC Entertainment since 1997, arranging talent and program acquisitions for the net and its production arm, NBC Studios. She's also been actively involved in negotiating license fee agreements and deals for pilots and other programming.

Ungerman is expected to perform similar duties at UPN if a final deal is worked out.

NBC and UPN spokesmen declined comment.

Ungerman joined NBC Entertainment as director of business affairs in 1993. Before that, she worked as an entertainment lawyer for the Toronto-based firm of Goodman & Goodman.
