Italo Stream picks board

TV platform names Stella prexy

MILAN -- Italy's digital TV platform Stream, in which Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Europe recently acquired a 35% stake, appointed its new board and strategic committee on Thursday.

Giovanni Stella was named president; News Corp. Europe will announce the CEO later this month. The Stream board includes Telecom Italia's Miro Allione and Oscar Cicchetti; News Corp. Europe's Elizabeth Murdoch, Corrado Sciolla and Lucia Morselli; Cecchi Gori's Marco Duradoni and Valerio Veltroni; and SDS' Sergio Cragnotti.

Stream shareholders created a top strategic committee of News Corp. Europe's president Letizia Moratti, Vittorio Cecchi Gori, Telecom Italia's Giovanni Stella and SDS' Sergio Cragnotti, Stefano Tanzi and Franco Sensi.

On April 28, Telecom Italia sold 35% of Stream to Murdoch, 18% to producer Vittorio Cecchi Gori, and 12% to SDS, an Italian company created by four soccer clubs. Telecom Italia retains 35%, Under the deal, Telecom Italia reserved the right to choose the president and will run the marketing and subscriptions.
