Col, Campbell take O'Donnell to 'Limit'
'Fortune' thesp reaches new heights
O'Donnell was hired by Col prexy Amy Pascal, who has pegged "Limit" as an event film for release next summer. Robert King ("Red Corner") wrote the script and produces with Lloyd Phillips and Marcia Nasatir.
O'Donnell will play an ambitious mountain climber who retires and becomes estranged from his sister following a climbing accident that causes the death of their father. Three years later, the climber is forced to lead a rescue mission when his sister and other members of her team become trapped on K2, the second highest mountain in the world.
The film begins shooting in August in New Zealand. The Kiwi Campbell's last Columbia film was the hit "Zorro." A sequel is in the works.
It's O'Donnell's first macho role since playing Robin in "Batman Forever" and "Batman & Robin." He recently starred in Robert Altman's "Cookie's Fortune," and he'll next be seen in the New Line romantic comedy "The Bachelor," opposite Renee Zellweger. That film, opening Nov. 12, was exec produced by O'Donnell, the first film under his George Street Pictures banner.
