NBC picks Comerford

Exec VP to o'see spot sales for Peacock's O&Os

Frank Comerford has been tapped as the new head of the NBC-owned stations' inhouse advertising sales arm.

As exec VP of sales for the NBC Television Stations, Comerford will oversee all spot sales for the Peacock's 13 O&Os. He succeeds Ray Heacox, who was named general manager of NBC's Los Angeles O&O in March.

Comerford, a five-year NBC vet, most recently served as veep and director of sales for the Peacock's Gotham flagship, WNBC.

"Under Frank's leadership, the WNBC sales team has done a sensational job and become the top station sales force in the nation's most competitive marketplace," said Pat Wallace, prexy of the Peacock O&O group.

Before joining WNBC in 1994, Comerford spent 10 years as a sales exec with sports-oriented indie WSBK Boston, where he supervised the marketing of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics telecasts, among other duties. Earlier in his career, Comerford worked for Storer Television Sales.
