SAG to honor McCord

Thesp will receive Morgan Award June 6

Actor Kent McCord, best known as police officer Jim Reed on the NBC series "Adam-12," will receive the Screen Actor Guild's Ralph Morgan Award June 6.

Named for SAG's first president, who helped establish the screen actors' union in 1933, the award is given for distinguished service to the organization's Hollywood branch.

McCord was first elected to the Guild's National Board of Directors in 1972. He served for 11 years, including two terms as first vice president.

In addition to board service, McCord chaired SAG's children's committee, the publications committee and the agents relations committee. He also represented the American acting community to the Federation Internationale des Acteurs.

McCord's other film and television credits include "SeaQuest DSV," "Silk Stalkings," "Airplane II," "Predator II" and "Galactica 1980."

"Kent has always been a determined and hard-working advocate for the rights of working performers," said Guild prexy Richard Masur. "SAG is pleased to be able to recognize his outstanding efforts on the union's behalf."
