Black Film Fest expands

2000 event to span two more days, show more films

The Hollywood Black Film Festival is soliciting entries for its second annual festival for black filmmakers, Feb. 24-28 in Culver City.

Fest, which hopes to bring the work of black filmmakers to Southern California's filmgoing audiences, will expand from last year's three-day run to five in 2000, and will increase the number of films it screens to 40 from 27.

"The goal of the festival is to provide a dynamic forum to showcase the work of black filmmakers," said founder and executive director Tanya Kersey-Henley.

The festival accepts feature-length films, shorts, documentaries, animated and student films for its competitive program. The event also has an invitational program that screens noncompetitive theatrical premieres, including studio feature pics and cable telefilms.

Submission forms can be obtained by calling (310) 348-3942 or by visiting the festival's Web site: www.hbff.org.
