Farber exits MTV for ICast exec VP post

Exec joins former NBC prez to develop 'Net broadcasting company

Matthew Farber has ankled his exec posts at MTV Networks Online and MTV2 to serve as executive veep and general manager of ICast, the 'Netcaster owned by Internet investment concern CMGI.

Farber joins Neil Braun, former prexy of NBC and prexy and CEO of ICast, to develop the Internet broadcasting company that blends streaming media with e-commerce.

As executive veep of MTV Networks Online, Farber is credited with bringing MTV onto the 'Net. He also oversaw strategic planning, development and operations for MTV Online, VH1 Online and the recently announced Buggles Project incorporating MTV Networks' acquisition of Imagine Radio.

As general manager of MTV2, Farber launched the cable spinoff's local and interactive programming, and managed the development and launch of five new digital musicvideo channels from MTV and VH1.

"Matt is a proven innovator and a gifted strategic manager with a demonstrated ability to manage profitable, market-leading online brands," Braun said.

Prior to joining MTV, Farber was director of strategic planning at Arista Records.

Andover, Mass.-based CMGI also owns Planet Direct and ZineZone. The company's @Ventures has ownership interests in Lycos, GeoCities and Silknet.
