Castle Rock will use Jamie Foxx as 'Bait'

Thesp to star in action-comedy

Jamie Foxx is set to star in Castle Rock Entertainment's action-comedy "Bait," to be directed by Stephen Surjik ("Wayne's World II").

Castle Rock is co-producing the pic with Village Roadshow. Warner Bros. will handle worldwide distribution on the pic, which is slated to begin production in August in Toronto and New York.

Foxx will star as Alvin Snyder, a two-bit ex-con who is being used as bait by the Feds in order to lure a master thief who knows the whereabouts of a multi-million dollar cache of gold.

The producers haven't worked out screenwriting credits on the pic, for which Tony Gilroy, Jeff Nathanson and Andrew & Adam Scheinman have written drafts.

Sean Ryerson will produce; and Tony Gilroy, Jaime King and Bruce Berman will exec-produce.

Foxx recently wrapped a starring role in Oliver Stone's football drama, "Any Given Sunday," for Warner Bros. Foxx also stars opposite Nia Long in Trimark's upcoming indie "Inconvenienced."

Foxx's other credits include "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" and "The Great White Hype."

Foxx, who also stars and exec-produces his eponymous WB network sitcom "The Jamie Foxx Show," is repped by CAA, King Management and attorney Nina Shaw.
