Thompson downloads 'Murder'
E-mail pitch lands French scribe low-six figures
Thompson inked a low six-figure deal with Philip Devereaux of France, the 23-year-old "Murder" scribe, without any prelim discussions or read-throughs.
"Larry has gotten e-mailed ideas before, but this is the first that ever caught his attention," Thompson's representative said. "He was just so intrigued by it."
"Murder" tells the story of a French serial killer who brandishes a human virus for a weapon, and torments his victims through e-mail.
Thompson, who has no clue how Devereaux managed to grab hold of his e-mail address, has flown to France for a first-time meeting with the uncredited writer.
No production date has been set for the project.
In addition to "Sonny and Cher," Thompson was a former co-owner of New World Pictures. His most recent credits include the telepics "Replacing Dad," "Face of Evil" and "Separated by Murder."
