Gibson, Cassidy ink for 'Joseph' revival

Norris helming at Papermill

Deborah Gibson and Patrick Cassidy have inked to star in this summer's Papermill Playhouse revival of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Pop songstress-cum-legit-thesp Gibson was seen on Broadway in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" and starred last season at the Papermill Playhouse in "Gypsy" with Betty Buckley.

Gibson will play the narrator and star opposite Cassidy (seen Off Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's "Assassins"), who will play Joseph.

Legiter, which bows under the helm of helmer Dallett Norris, runs June 9 through July 25.

"Joseph" is being co-presented by Troika Entertainment; plans are underway for a northeast tour of the show.

The Millburn, N.J.. venue has long been a testing ground for possible Broadway transfers, with last season's production of "Gypsy" and "Follies" receiving considerable attention from Broadway's producing community.

Gibson is managed by Gibson Prods.
