Vader tyro in 'Madison'
Lloyd set to star in father-son actioner
Set in 1971 in Madison, Ind., pic -- which Bindley co-wrote with his brother Scott -- is a true story of a dying Indiana river town set against the backdrop of hydroplane boat racing.
The story focuses on the relationship between a boat racer trying to decide whether to move his family out of town, and his young son (Lloyd).
Bindley is directing. Carl Amari is producing the $10 million pic through his Addison Street Films banner.
Pic will be shot on location in Madison this summer.
"Jake is a terrific actor," Bindley said. "He already has an extraordinary following among young kids. We're happy he's on board."
Bindley is in development on two sports-themed projects, "A Sporting Chance" and "Loose Balls," both of which he plans to direct. "Chance," which is set up at Fox for producer Danny Jacobson, is based on a Sports Illustrated article by John Ed Bradley about a high school prison football team in Texas.
With "Loose Balls," a comedy about the American Basketball Assn., Bindley will reteam with Amari and Lakeshore's Gary Lucchesi. Bindley's brother Scott will pen the screenplay based on the book by Terry Pluto. Both scripts are expected to be completed within the next several months.
Lloyd, recently featured on the cover of Time magazine, has also appeared onscreen in "Unhook the Stars" and "Jingle All the Way." He was repped on the "Madison" deal by Cindy Osbrink of Osbrink Talent, attorney Michael Fuller and Endeavor.
The Bindleys are repped by Jeff Field and Carol Yumkas at the William Morris Agency and attorney Peter Nelson. Attorney Tom Taylor negotiated on behalf of Addison Street.
