Pasadena skeds tuners

'Jolson,' 'Joseph' among lineup

The L.A. premieres of "Jolson: the Musical," and new revivals of "South Pacific" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" are among the highlights of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium's season of musicals kicking off this summer.

Patrick Cassidy and Deborah Gibson are teaming up for Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's "Joseph," getting its L.A. preem at the Pasadena Civic Nov. 16.

Also slated for the season is the L.A. preem Oct. 26 of the Olivier Award-winning "Jolson: the Musical," starring Mike Burstyn. "Jolson," choreographed by Tony-nominated Joey McNeely ("Smokey Joe's Cafe"), features 22 of Jolson's hits.

First up is Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" opening the season July. 6.

Bowing Feb. 1 is "A Celebration of the Classic Hollywood Musicals," providing an inside look at MGM, Warner Bros. and RKO tuners.
