No 'Deal' for Buena Vista

Gotham, L.A. outlets snub syndie skein

Buena Vista Television has scrapped plans to revive "Let's Make a Deal" as an syndie strip this fall.

Distrib had sold the gameshow to stations in more than 100 markets, but it could not strike a satisfactory deal with outlets in Gotham and Los Angeles, the two most crucial markets for any syndie skein.

"Deal" revival remains a high priority for Stone Stanley Prods., which brought the classic gameshow's format rights to Buena Vista in late 1997. There's no official word on its future, but the project has drawn interest from the cable arena.
