KTTV leads L.A. Emmy nods

KCBS, KCOP follow in local news kudo tally

Fox O&O KTTV led the local field with 24 nominations for the 51st annual Los Angeles area Emmy Awards.

KTTV and its news staffers earned nods for investigative reporting, feature reporting, and single- and multi-part reports on a serious news story, among other categories. KCBS was second with 22 Emmy bids, followed by KCOP (17), KCAL (13), KTLA (11), KCET (9), KNBC (7), Fox Sports West (5), KABC (4), KMEX (3) and KVEA (2).

As per the local Emmy rules, there are no nominations for the top newscast awards. Any station that submits entries for regularly skedded newscasts under 35 minutes and over 35 minutes will be considered in the final judging, administered by the L.A. branch of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Winners will be unveiled June 5 at a black-tie gala at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
