Ullman to helm 'Faithless'

Classic love triangle is focus of Bergman script

PARIS -- Ingmar Bergman's latest script, "The Faithless," is to start shooting in August, with Bergman's longstanding collaborator Liv Ullmann directing.

The $4 million project, which stars Sweden's Lena Endre and Erland Josephson ("Fanny and Alexander," "Scenes of a Marriage"), will shoot in Stockholm, Paris and the island of Faro.

"Faithless," co-produced by SVT Drama, Svensk Filmindustri, German pubcaster ZDF and RAI of Italy, marks the second time Ullmann has directed a Bergman script, following "Private Confessions" (1996).

Although Bergman has kept the subject of the pic fairly well under wraps, it's known that "Faithless" centers on a classic triangle of a woman, her husband and her lover. International sales are being handled by Svensk Filmindustri.
