Kennedy upped at Miramax

Exec to oversee western sales

In his new capacity as senior exec VP of Miramax Films, Mike Rudnitsky has tapped Scott Kennedy as the company's Western division manager, a newly created position for the West Coast sales office.

As restructuring continues at the mini-major's North American distribution department, Kennedy is the first distribution hire under Rudnitsky.

Rudnitsky recently replaced three-year veteran Neal Blatt as the distribution topper. Through the reorganization, Miramax execs are hopeful of generating more aggressive domestic distribution strategies.

Formerly a regional film buyer for General Cinema, L.A.-based Kennedy will oversee the sales operations for the company's Western region, reporting directly to Rudnitsky.

"We are extremely thrilled to be able to bring Scott into the company," Rudnitsky said. "During his 20 years of experience in both distribution and exhibition, Scott has proved himself to be not only talented, but aggressive as well -- a perfect combination for our team."
