AMPAS sets Astaire fete

Donen set to emcee

With a program that includes clips and personal appearances, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be celebrating the late Fred Astaire's 100th birthday.

The tribute will be staged for the Academy's New York area members on May 27 at the Museum of Modern Art. This event is not open to the public.

Participants will include Robyn Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Leslie Caron and Betty Comden, who co-wrote "The Band Wagon." Director Stanley Donen will emcee.
