Producer/director Don MacBain has been tapped as visual effects producer for the commercial and feature film effects division of Pacific Data Images.
MacBain joins George Merkert, who was recently named PDI's executive producer of the division, based in Palo Alto, Calif.
MacBain and Merkert previously collaborated while members of the special effects unit for "Starship Troopers," where MacBain served as production supervisor of pic's miniature unit.
MacBain also served as a line producer/production manager at Sony Picture Imageworks and helmed the Imax pic "Fire." He also worked as a freelance pro-duction manager and producer, serving a stint at Lucasfilm Commercials in 1989.

Phil Peters has been upped to VP of national advertising sales for Pearson Television North America.
In his new position, Peters will oversee advertising in the midwest and west coast regions and continue to operate out of the company's Chicago office.
Previously, Peters was account exec for midwest and west coast advertiser sales. Prior to joining Pearson Television North America, Peters served as sales planner for Discovery Networks and worked for Leo Burnett in the media department.

Scott Hillier has been tapped by Image Group Entertainment as Director of Production.
Based in the company's New York office, Hillier will report to Michael Schlossman, IGE's VP of Production and Development. Currently Hillier is producing a one-hour special for the Discovery Channel with Schlossman.
Prior to joining IGE, Hillier was a producer at BBC TV's foreign affairs unit where he covered the Gulf War. He also served as producer and director on the documentaries "The Bushman Trail" and "The Wild West Bison Drive".
