Monaco signs to U Records

New senior veep to develop sales campaigns

Universal Records has tapped Pat Monaco as senior veep to round out its exec ranks.

The former Island Records senior veep/general manager will develop sales campaigns for artists on labels including Universal, Motown, Mojo and Republic Records.

"Pat is a tremendous addition to the Universal team," said Mel Lewinter, chairman of Universal/Motown Records Group. Lewinter cited Monaco's creative instincts and business acumen as factors for the nod.

Universal recently expanded its portfolio to include the Motown label and was dubbed Universal/Motown Records Group as a result.

The shift followed parent Universal Music Group's acquisition of Polygram in December.
