"ET's" March 22 post-Oscar show drove its household and demo ratings up by 20% over the previous week. Paramount's "ET" scored a 6.7 household rating and a 3.2 in the key demographic of adults 18-49.
"ET" rival "Access Hollywood" enjoyed a big post-Oscar bounce in households in its NBC owned and operated markets -- where "Access" typically beats "ET" -- including Gotham (7.9), L.A. (8.1) and Philadelphia (9.3). On a national basis, however, "Access" was up just 4% in households (2.5) and 8% in the key adult demo (1.3) for the week.
On the daytime talkshow front, Jerry Springer's lead over Oprah Winfrey narrowed as Studios USA's "Springer" dropped 3% in households (6.8) and 8% in the women 18-49 demo (4.8). King World's "Oprah" inched up 2% to a 6.6 in households, but dipped 5% with femmes to a 4.0.
Studios USA's "Sally Jessy Raphael" rose 11% to take third place in households with a 4.0, while its femme demo spiked 9% (2.4). Warner Bros.' "Rosie O'Donnell" fell 7% in households (3.8) and the demo (2.6). Columbia TriStar's "Ricki Lake" eased 3% in households (3.7) and dropped 4% with femmes (2.6).
Buena Vista TV's "Live with Regis & Kathie Lee" upticked 3% in households (3.7) and rose 6% with femmes (1.8). Par's "Montel Williams" took a 17% hit in households (3.4) and with femmes (2.2). Studios USA's "Maury Povich" climbed 6% in households (3.3) while its femme demo (2.0) was unchanged from the previous week.
Twentieth Century Fox TV's "Forgive or Forget" topped the list of frosh talkers, in spite of a 10% dip to a 1.8 in households and an 8% drop with femmes (1.2). King World's "Hollywood Squares" had an up week, rising 7% to a 4.4 in households and 6% in adults 18-49 (1.9). Warner Bros.' "Change of Heart" climbed 5% to a 2.3 in households but was flat (1.6) in the target adult 18-34 demo.
Courtshows were a mixed bag. Worldvision's "Judge Judy" (7.3) and "Judge Joe Brown" (3.7) posted slight gains in households for the week, while Rysher's "Judge Mills Lane" (3.0) and Warner Bros.' "The People's Court" (2.6) went the other direction.
