Angelil was hospitalized last week in Dallas, where he underwent surgery on his neck. He was released from hospital last week and will now undergo six weeks of radiation therapy.
"Obviously this is a very delicate time for Rene and I, but we have been blessed with some of the very best medical attention in the world," Dion said in a prepared statement. "Rene is the biggest priority in my life, and I want to be by his side as he continues his treatment. I hope my fans will understand and support me in this difficult situation."
The Dion concerts, part of her North American tour, will be rescheduled for the fall and new dates will be announced in each market.
Angelil's doctor, Robert Steckler, said: "He has tolerated the procedure very well and his prognosis is excellent."
Dion recently said she was planning to take a sabbatical beginning at the end of this year to spend more time with her husband and hopefully start a family.
