NBC shocker lures demo

'Videos' goes head-to-head with Lewinsky interview

Despite unusually tough competition from the Monica Lewinsky interview, NBC's premiere of "World's Most Amazing Videos" bettered NBC's season average in the 9-10 p.m. timeslot.

The initial outing of the NBC reality series averaged a second-place 7.5/11 in homes and a third-place 4.5 in adults 18-49, behind Lewinsky on "20/20" and Fox's "Party of Five."

Proving that Fox doesn't have a lock on the shock genre, the series registered an 18% increase over NBC's adults 18-49 season average in the timeslot with comedies and a 14% improvement in households. Among men 18-49, the video series was up 26% over the timeslot average this season.
