Dimension, Interlight, Road pact

Trio finds force in collaboration

Miramax's genre label Dimension Films has signed a co-development/co-financing deal with Patrick Choi and Nile Niami's Interlight Pictures ("Resurrection") and Paul Mones' Second Road Prods.

Interlight is in post-production on "Camouflage," starring Leslie Nielsen, and is in pre-production on "Standing Room Only," starring John Travolta and directed by Gus Van Sant.

Following their collaboration on "The Patriot," starring Steven Seagal, Interlight and Second Road agreed to partner on a number of projects, including writer-director David Atkin's thriller "Novocain" and the reincarnation adventure "Aquarius."

The agreement with Dimension was negotiated by Dimension president Cary Granat and Miramax veepee for business and legal affairs Brian Burkin.

"We like Dimension's philosophy and we have a good relationship with Cary," Mones said. He noted that Interlight and Second Road are open to producing other kinds of films besides genre pics.

New York-based Second Road is in pre-production on the feature film "Love," directed by Mones and produced by Jon Kilik and Corrinne Mann, and "Webwar," a four-hour miniseries with Granada Entertainment, written and to be directed by Mones.

Interlight Pictures was repped in the deal by attorney Barry Littman of O'Melveny-Myers and Second Road was represented by Stephen Brookman of Bloom, Hergott, Cook, Diemer & Klein.
