Torreano, Wiegand pick up Heritage Awards for student filmmaking

Student filmmakers Jonah Torreano and Lisa Wiegand will be honored with the American Society of Cinematographers' first Heritage Awards. The award, dedicated this year to Karl Struss, who won an Oscar for cinematography in 1928, recognizes outstanding achievement in student filmmaking.

Torreano recently graduated from the Art Center College of Design with a bachelor's degree in film. Wiegand graduated from UCLA with a master's degree in fine arts. The students are among several to be feted at ASC's 13th annual achievement awards Sunday at the Century Plaza Hotel.

Saturday, the ASC will host real and virtual open houses showcasing award winners and nominees. For more information, call Patty Armacost at (323) 969-4333.
