Fox 2000 buys 'Virgin' spec

Aniston to star in tyro scribes' hitman romance

Fox 2000 has acquired Tom Kapinos' spec script "The Virgin Mary," and Jennifer Aniston is attached to star.

The Fox production division paid a mid six-figure sum for the script, which is described as an edgy story about a 29-year-old virgin who forms a romantic attachment to a hitman trying to extricate himself from his murderous vocation.

No producer is attached to the project, but sources said Laurie Cooney will receive a co-producer credit on the film.

Fox 2000 exec VP Carla Hacken and creative exec Tracy Silbert brought the screenplay into the 20th Century Fox division.

The deal marks the first screenplay Kapinos has sold since he arrived in L.A. three years ago. Since that time, he has worked as a staff reader at Creative Artists Agency, which brokered his deal with Fox 2000.

CAA also represents Aniston, who has become a mainstay among Fox's production divisions. During her five years on the hit NBC series "Friends," Aniston has spent her hiatuses starring in such Fox releases as "She's the One," "Picture Perfect," "The Object of My Affection" and the upcoming "Office Space."

Aniston is managed by 3 Arts Entertainment's Molly Madden.
