'Meet' scores ratings TD

'This Week' short 2 mil viewers

NBC's "Meet the Press" scored a Super Bowl-size win over chief rival "This Week" on Sunday, snagging its largest margin of victory over the ABC chatfest in at least a dozen years.

The Peacock public affairs program, with moderator Tim Russert, played the role of the Denver Broncos, outscoring the Atlanta Falcons-like "This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts" by a lopsided 62% on Jan. 31. The final score: "Meet," 5.33 million viewers; "This Week," 3.3 million.

As for the rest of the competish, the Eye's "Face the Nation" was third with 2.58 million viewers, while "Fox News Sunday" averaged 1.42 million viewers.

"Meet" has now won the Sunday morning race for 30 consecutive weeks.

In other fringe ratings news, Nickelodeon won the Saturday morning kidvid race with a 4.4/19 among tots 2-11 on Jan. 30, while ABC's kiddie lineup was the top-rated among the broadcast webs, averaging a 3.3/15. Fox (2.8/12) ranked second, followed by WB (2.3/10), Cartoon Network (1.3/6) and CBS (1.0/5).

NBC's teen-targeted Saturday sked scored a 3.1/19 among adolescents 12-17 and a 3.3/20 with male teens. The latter number represents the Peacock's best score with male teens on Saturday since March 1993.
